Peptide Therapy
You are probably reading Dr. Crawford's website information because you are not satisfied with how healthcare is delivered, and you are not too thrilled with the concept of synthetic, pharmaceutical drugs. We obviously agree. Some people think a Functional doctor is “all about supplements.” That is far from the truth if you have a well-trained doctor. Here is a sampling of the peptide therapies and other functional treatments Dr. Crawford prescribes.
Oral Peptide Treatment
The bioidentical protein chains called peptides are widely thought to only be delivered with peptide injections but oral preparations are quite effective for many conditions.
Examples of oral peptides
KPV and Larozatide for inflammatory bowel disease, BPC-157 for injuries, Dihexa for cognition.
Peptide Injections
The demand for peptide treatment has meant that many people are buying dangerous “research-only” products and self-treating; a recipe for bad results and worse. Dr. Crawford uses only legitimate compounded sources for peptide injections. She has been prescribing peptides for over ten years, and is considered a foremost authority, helping to train other M.D's in their proper use.
Examples of peptide injections
TB-500/BPC-157 for injuries, Epithalon and Thymulin for longevity, Retatrutide for weight loss, SS-31 for severe mitochondrial (energy) issues.
Peptide Therapy for Weight Loss
GLP1-GIP enhancing medications are extremely popular, with Dr. Crawford being one of the first doctors to successfully prescribe both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. She also prescribes Retatrutide (added glucagon enhancement to increase metabolism) for weight loss, and has protocols to ensure minimal to no muscle loss as well as minimal to no GI side effects.
How do these medications work?
- GLP-1: ↑ satiety, ↓ gastric emptying, ↑ glucose-dependent insulin, ↓ glucagon
- GIP: ↑ glucose-dependent insulin (and some glucagon depending on glucose level)
- Glucagon: ↑ energy expenditure/lipolysis (fat-burning), ↑ hepatic(liver) glucose output
Peptide Treatment Without Pills or Needles
Both men and women will sometimes say “we hate pills and needles”, so then what? Dr. Crawford can prescribe peptide lozenges as well as dissolving oral peptide strips; a new but effective form of peptide delivery. Some peptide therapies can also be delivered in nasal sprays. She tailors each person's regimen to their individual preferences.
Examples of peptide strips, lozenges, and nasal sprays
PT-141 libido enhancement for men and women, and treatment of anxiety/depression with Semax and Selank via peptide strips, MOTS-C for pre-workout AMPK energy enhancement via peptide strips, IGF1LR3 via nasal spray for muscular development, GHK-Cu via lozenge for IBD treatment and overall skin health.
Other Therapies
IV and Nebulized exosomes (stem cell nano-pods) are used for many conditions: most notably for neurodegenerative issues, autoimmune disease, CIRS, and even aging. Combination treatments with peptide therapy and exosomes are extremely effective.
